A lunge for the line..

If you are following my blog or website (hi Mum), then I hope that you are impressed with what you see, because it’s my baby, and I have worked hard to get it to where it is. I am proud of it no matter how homely it might seem to others and I fail to see its flaws. That’s what emotional attachment will do to you..

More than likely though – you are neither impressed nor unimpressed – in the web 2.0 world we inhabit my website just is. A tiny voice with little of any importance to say to anyone.

Furthermore, it’s not really complete yet. Some of you might argue that a creative piece constructed by a type A personality with a desire to ‘polish the penny’ never is. But I’m talking stuff that is missing – especially the portfolio section. I have one complete portfolio and three other placeholders that require populating.

The biggest constraint is time. But I have decided on a solution that I can implement quickly:

  1. Delete one placeholder and rename another. On reflection, I am going to go with a black and white portrait portfolio (tone), a colour portrait portfolio (hue), and a personal works portfolio (muse).
  2. Put together two quick portfolios for hue and muse and get them online. Don’t spend weeks assessing choices, just get something out there and then refine it.

My logic is that I will be much happier having something that looks finished to others, rather than living with the shame of a clearly incomplete project.

So that’s what I am going to do. Now.

Right now.

But before I go, I have noticed that lots of photographers are all looking for a solution to their website blues. Over the next few posts I am going to detail why I built my own site, and the key things you need to understand to build your own. Hope you can take the journey with me.
