I have posted here before about my friends who picked up and moved to Woodend. The country life beckoned, and they jumped in with both feet. 5 acres, bush block, stables, horses, chooks, the whole disaster.
Every time we go up for a visit, they start a steady stream of prodding: “When are you going to move to the country?”. “You guys should move up here, you’d love it!”. “Think what a great lifestyle it would be for the kids!”. It’s a good thing they are good friends, or I would stop going up to visit. If I want that sort of pressure I can invite the door to door energy salespeople over…
Anyway, to make things even worse, some other friends from the school community have also moved to Woodend. Doug and Allison have three gorgeous daughters, ranging from toddlers to about 10. We promised that we would pop up for a visit and introduce the two families to one another, as a way to extend their country network.
So last weekend we drove up for a big lunch. The irony is that the two families are living within spitting distance of one another. The girls have only one property between them, so I expect that there will soon be a well worn track between the two houses.
Unfortunately for James, all the rest of the kids were girls. Six of them not including the chooks… But they all played well together and had a blast, which is pretty easy for them to do given the amount of cool outdoor play equipment at Doug and Allison’s place!
Anyway these are some of the pictures that I managed to capture in the course of the afternoon. It’s clear that the kids are really taking to the country life. But no, thankyou, I have no plans to move to Woodend…
